Habitat for Humanity Philippines (Habitat) took part in engaging hundreds of thousands of volunteers in support of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) ‘Brigada Eskwela’ last May 30 to June 6 as part of its Habitat Young Leaders Build 2016.
‘Brigada Eskwela’ mobilized student volunteers to clean-up rooms and facilities in school campuses in Manila in preparation for the opening of classes this June.
“Today’s youth have been more active and conscious about socio-civic programs, collectively working together to build a better world,” Charlie Ayco, Managing Director and CEO of Habitat said.
The students came together, fostering a sense of responsibility in the spirit of bayanihan, and took part in repairing, cleaning and clearing school grounds and facilities for a more conducive learning environment.
“As part of our mission to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope, Habitat proudly supports ‘Brigada Eskwela’ in the National Capital Region (NCR) to encourage the next generation of leaders to step up and holistically improve their community,” Ayco added.
