"Habitat Philippines holds first Media Training Workshop"

Last May 27, 2015, Habitat for Humanity Philippines’ Communications Department hosted a media training workshop at its Makati headquarters to build national office staff capacity on communicating the organization’s work to different audiences. The workshop covered topics on digital communications,  social media marketing, storytelling for radio, PR and media relations, content writing, and storytelling in the Habitat context.

Industry stalwarts Donald Lim, ABS-CBN Chief Digital Officer; and Carlo Ople, managing director of Di9it, DM9 JaymeSyfu’s digital arm, talked about communicating and innovating in the digital age.

Both Lim and Ople stressed that since the way the world communicates is constantly changing, we also need to innovate the way we convey our message to our audiences. “We should not stand still,” Ople said, quoting his grandfather, the late senator Blas Ople.

Habitat staff were also treated to talks from Ruby Paurom of RubyComm-K Austria PR Consultants Managing Director; DZIQ990 Station Manager Jake Maderazo; Thomson Reuters political correspondent Manny Mogato, and Habitat Philippines’ own Disaster Response Communications Officer JM Lago.
