Right here, in the Philippines.
Thanks to high-profile celebrities such as Grammy Award winner and Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap, through his own foundation, alongside Habitat for Humanity Philippines “love” truly manifested itself last September 13th in Zamboanga City.
337 people from various organizations, including the Executive Director of the Apl.de.Ap Foundation, Eileen Aparis, volunteered, and spent their weekend building classrooms in Talon-Talon Elementary School.
The volunteers’ efforts contributed towards 14 classrooms being built at the school, which were donated by the Apl.de.Ap Foundation.
“Building schools, just like building a house, creates an opportunity to open doors and enrich the lives of our youth and children,” said Charlie Ayco, CEO & Managing Director of Habitat.
The classrooms built by volunteers will unlock greater opportunities, just as the four other classrooms that the Apl.de.Ap Foundation have donated towards Habitat, for two other schools in Zamboanga.
“The children of the Philippines possess creative and innovative minds, and through generous donations of classrooms and the voluntary manpower behind that, the Apl.de.Ap Foundation is providing a platform to prosper these minds,” said Ayco.
